About the AP Program
................................................................................................ |
AP stands for Advanced
Placement. Advanced Placement is a
program of college level courses and exams
that gives bright, motivated students the
opportunity to get ahead by earning advanced
placement and/or college credit while they
are still in high school. William R.
Fitzsimmons, Dean of Admissions for Harvard
stated, "AP is a better predictor of
college success than SAT." Closer
to home Bill Kolb, former Dean of Admissions
for the University of Florida stated,
"Students who do not have
a minimum of three (3) AP credits on their
transcript, need not apply."
Unlike the IB program, each course is
offered independent of all other AP courses.
There is no specific diploma program
associated with these courses. Visit the
College Board AP
Website for
course descriptions, exam practice
questions, and much more detailed
information about the AP program. |

Advanced Placement courses follow a rigorous
college curriculum and offer the
opportunity to earn college credits through
their final exam in the spring. All of the
Okaloosa County high schools are committed
to offering a variety of top-notch AP
courses for our students. The county has
recently decided to hire an AP Specialist at
the school district office to ensure that
the Advanced Placement programs at all the
high schools maintain the high AP standards
for their courses. |
